At the risk of stating the obvious, document comparison is all about change. Not just change in the actual documents but also change in the very technology that analyzes, marks up, and outputs these changes. Consider how document comparison has evolved since the days when law firms physically marked up the differences between two documents with a red pen.
What sets compareDocs apart?
compareDocs has taken document comparison another leap forward not only in terms of technology but also in philosophy. The compareDocs approach to document comparison and workflow is unique — it provides organizations with a seamless, integrated comparison workflow that delivers unprecedented levels of accuracy and efficiency.
The compareDocs comparison engine does not convert the document to another format as part of the comparison process. It also won’t pollute your comparison document with problematic styles and formatting.
Usually, converting documents to another format means that the original formatting will be lost. compareDocs, however, maintains document integrity and fidelity at all times by working within the text layer only - not the presentation layer.
Once the changes have been identified within the text layer, compareDocs outputs the detected changes directly into a new Word document. Since this new document is a live working Word document, it becomes the next version of the compared documents.
This approach results in a more efficient document review process. There's no longer any need for proprietary viewing technology; reformatting comparison documents; retraining staff, or wasting time.
Multiple integration points
The compareDocs interface is modern, intuitive and straightforward. Loading documents into the interface is made easy by numerous integration points. Add documents directly from Microsoft Office, Outlook, leading document management systems, and Windows file systems. Or, simply drag-and-drop into compareDocs and press Compare.
Compare anything to anything
compareDocs lets you compare Word, PDF, Excel, and PowerPoint files. Just drag the documents into the interface, select your output settings, and let compareDocs do the rest. Additionally, compareDocs automatically detects image-based files and will OCR them within seconds. This means you can compare scanned documents to the original soft copy.
Compare anywhere on any device
compareDocs cloud for Office 365 on Windows, Mac, iPad, or in the browser empowers users to compare, review, and approve documents anywhere.
Extending the document comparison workflow
compareDocs offers two output types: redline and Track Changes. Redline is a static change report that can be saved for internal use or shared externally. You must make changes to the original to get your next working version.
Outputting a Track Changes comparison report, however, gives you your next working version: simply accept/reject the changes that are marked-up within the document and continue working in Word as usual.
