The best thing about creating PDF binders with pdfDocs Binder is that it does all the hard work of organizing documents and files into an easy-to-read, easy-to-send electronic PDF. The second best thing is that you can customize your Binder Projects as you work on them. We’ve already covered adding custom metadata; next is customizing the Table of Contents (TOC) in Binder Projects.
pdfDocs Binder will automatically generate an interactive TOC from a Microsoft Word template file when outputting a single or multi-page PDF binder. It may be, however, that the standard TOC isn’t quite right for the kinds of binders you are creating. Or, you might want to slightly alter the existing TOC template and add corporate stationery or styles. In pdfDocs Binder, both are possible.
Customizing Binder Project Templates
A systems administrator can work with different departments and/or users to create Binder Project templates according to the kinds of files being created. For example, a litigation department may require its own binder template so that each Closing Book created looks the same. The TOC associated with this template can be customized as required and, once saved, will be used whenever a binder is created from that particular Project template.
These custom Binder Project templates can be saved centrally and deployed to users. To access them a user would select 'Server Templates' when creating a Binder Project and choose from a dropdown list of available templates.
Customizing the pdfDocs Binder Table of Contents
Users wanting to customize the standard pdfDocs TOC can easily edit the Microsoft Word template it’s generated from. Logos, watermarks, stationery, and corporate styles can be applied to the master template so that they appear every time a binder is output.
