Mobile devices like tablets and laptop/tablet hybrids help support remote working and working on the go. Whether it’s approving a document during the commute to the office or signing an agreement the moment it comes through, our devices help us work when and where we need to.
Touchscreen laptops or devices like the Surface Pro make working with documents on the go even easier. Because they support pens and styluses, you can instantly capture your thoughts or comments. You can write on a PDF like you would a printed document, making the stylus the perfect solution for reviewing, editing, and signing documents on the go.
Here are three examples where writing on a PDF can increase your productivity.
1. Edit a document
Selecting your PDF editor’s pencil tool allows you to write edits and comments on an electronic document like paper. For example, you can circle a problematic phrase, draw a large question mark against a paragraph, or strikethrough text you wish to delete.
When you use your stylus to write on a PDF, you don’t need to print documents to edit them. And you don’t need to scan a hard copy or manually transfer the edits you made with a red pen to an electronic version to share with other reviewers. Simply upload or email your edited PDF when you’re done.
2. Review or approve a document on the go
There are times when you need to review or approve a document at home or while working on the go. Using your stylus to write on a PDF, you can easily make notes and suggestions for review later in the office. Or, you can approve the contents straightaway by adding an ‘Approved’ stamp or written signature.
Using your stylus to write on a PDF also allows you to mark-up documents with stamps like ‘Sign here’ or ‘Final,’ text comments and notes. You can also highlight, underline or strikethrough text as part of your review process or draw attention to actions you’d like other reviewers or editors to take.
3. Sign a document
Wet ink signatures require access to a printer and scanner – something not always readily available outside the office.
Using your stylus to write a signature on a PDF eliminates the need for printed documents. Going digital speeds up contract approvals and agreements since they can be finalized in minutes.
Just select the pen or pencil tool in your PDF editor and draw your signature freehand in the relevant fields.
A better Pencil tool
The Pencil tool in pdfDocs lets you write or draw freehand with your stylus directly on a PDF document. It was developed with smooth inking at its core, so writing on a PDF is free-flowing as writing on a printed document. Learn more about how it works.
